Director of Program Marketing summary:
Perkins School for the Blind is a progressive, multi-faceted organization working around the world to prepare children and young adults who are blind with the education, confidence and skills they need to realize their full potential. To best serve these individuals we must understand their needs, the market ecosystem and make informed decisions on the programs we offer base on that knowledge.
The Director of Program Marketing will be passionate about understanding the needs of families, children, educators and others who are visually impaired or work with children who are visually impaired and work with a team to ensure the needs of the people we serve are met in the new programming we develop. In parallel this individual will be able to work with our Content and Digital Strategy teams to develop strong messages, develop the best channels to reach new individuals and companies, and analyze the effectiveness of the marketing and how well programs meet individuals’ needs. He or she will be able to manage multiple programs simultaneously and manage other team members in support of product marketing.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:
Deeply understand customer needs, education services, and program planning process to jointly deliver the right solutions for the market.
Identify new opportunities for Perkins School for the Blind across our business units
Create effective value propositions and work with our communications team to develop messages that address customer needs as well as messages for organizations, partners, and press.
Coordinate across the organization the development of programs that meet market needs, collaborating with multiple stakeholders representing our education services, international programs and accessibility services.
Work with teams to complete concept-testing for new programs
Measure the effectiveness of marketing programs and evaluate the success of new programs in meeting market needs.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Demonstrated 10+ years’ experience in product marketing roles
Ability to drive cross-team collaboration with diverse groups in a cross-functional organization. Manage conflicts and challenges diplomatically.
Top-tier problem-solving skills with the ability to achieve results despite ambiguity and the ability to think strategically
Experience and proven track record in taking new and innovative products or services to market.
Strong analytic, organizational and critical thinking skills
Exceptional written, oral and presentation communication abilities
Understanding of educational programs and systems a plus
Value working with a non-profit to improve lives through education and accessibility
Education and/or Experience
Marketing or business-related degree desirable (master’s preferred)
Proficiency in marketing, project management, new product and service needs assessment to launch
Excellence in communications
10-plus years of experience and demonstrated competency in marketing
Experience managing others
Experience in working with non-profit organizations a plus
Design thinking experience a plus

Normal office environment; noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
